Thursday, 1 May 2025: PODA conducted a highly valuable and interactive session with over 40 women participants in Union Council Nambal, District Murree. The session focused on raising awareness about critical reproductive health issues, particularly those linked to early and child marriages. Participants engaged in open discussions that highlighted the social, emotional, and physical consequences of early marriage on young girls.

The session emphasized women’s vital role in national development, highlighting the importance of education and menstrual hygiene management as foundational to women’s health. Proper menstrual hygiene reduces the risk of infections, enabling women to work more efficiently and contribute meaningfully to society. Participants were also encouraged to stay hydrated during menstruation, as many women tend to avoid drinking water to reduce the need for frequent pad changes.

Through participatory learning methods, the activity further enhanced women’s understanding of essential topics such as the prevention and treatment of anemia and the importance of proper nutrition. The session equipped them with practical knowledge and tools to make informed health decisions for themselves and their families.

This initiative is part of PODA’s project “Reduce Early Marriages to Enhance Gender Equality”, supported by the Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad. It reflects PODA’s broader commitment to amplifying women’s voices and addressing their priorities at the grassroots level. PODA continues to work toward the well-being and empowerment of rural women in Pakistan.
