Monday, 11 August, 2025: PODA Pakistan in collaboration with NDF and Iltizam Relief Society distributed ration packages to 100 families in Dhoda village who were affected by the recent heavy rains. The rains in Chakwal caused significant damage to many homes in Dhoda village, located in Union Council Jand Awan, including damage to walls, roofs, and valuable belongings.
Prior to the distribution, a detailed survey was conducted with the help of local residents to identify those most in need. The list of affected families was verified by local community leaders, school teachers and the district administration.
Deputy Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Waseem Khan appreciated PODA’s efforts and distributed ration packages to serving families in their difficult time. Women from the community informed the Deputy Director in detail about the damages they had suffered due to the rains and appealed to the district administration for further assistance.
From PODA Pakistan, Manager, Admin/HR Bakhtawar Bashir, Project Officer Sohail Yousaf, Project Manager Farzana Ashraf and Assistant Admin Ashfaq Ahmed spoke with the affected individuals. They assured the community that PODA is actively informing both government and non-government institutions about the ongoing damage caused by the rains to ensure the safety and timely support of affected families. They committed to continuing their efforts in the next phase by arranging more ration packages for additional households.
The affected families expressed their gratitude to PODA Pakistan, NDF and Iltizam Relief Society for the timely assistance. Later, Deputy Director Social Welfare Mr. Waseem Khan along with the PODA team, visited the nearby village of Chah Mil to assess the damage caused by the rains. Ration packages were also distributed to the affected families there.
