Chakwal 23rd May, 2025: PODA organized a consultative training session on Reduce Early marriages in perspective of Punjab Child Marriage Restraint Act 2015 in its Legal interpretation, implementation and recommendations with reference to child marriage restraint Acts of other Provinces, ICT child marriage restraint Acts and Precedents of Lahore High Court, Islamabad High Court, Federal Shariat Court and International Child Rights Conventions at District Bar Chakwal with its members, attended by 25 male and Female Lawyers. Advocate Khawaja Zahid Nasim presented a comprehensive legal analysis of child marriage Laws across Pakistan and key judicial rulings. He references the Federal Shariat court 2023 judgment in the Ali Azhar Vs. Province of Sindh Case, which upheld the government authority to legislate a minimum marriage age of 18 for both boys and girls, affirming that such legislation does not contradict Islamic principles. He further cited the Lahore High Court decision in Azka Wahid Vs. The Provinces of Punjab, which declares that setting different marriage ages for boys (18) and girls violates the Constitution of Pakistan. Attiq ur Rasool Advocate provided a review of the penalties under this Act.  At the end member of Chakwal Bar Association called for uniform legislation to end child marriages in Pakistan.
