On 10 December, PODA Pakistan organized an awareness session on the importance of legal identity as part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign under the Rural Women’s Network for Civic Leadership and Participation Project, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The activity was conducted at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sialkot.
The session was led by Ms. Talat Zahid, PODA Rural Women Leader, with participation from 55 students. She highlighted the crucial role of the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) in a girl’s life, explaining that it is necessary for accessing education, opening bank accounts, voting, and benefiting from government services and welfare schemes. The session aimed to empower young girls by raising awareness about their rights and the importance of legal identity for full and active participation in society.
