Women Development Department Punjab, DC Office Kasur, MPA Safia Saeed, and PODA Unite to Support Flood-Affected Women with Hygiene Kits

September 2025: Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA), in collaboration with the Women Development Department (WDD) Punjab, distributed hygiene kits among flood-affected women in District Kasur. The distribution was carried out with the assistance of the DC Office Kasur, the Women Development Department, and MPA Safia Saeed.

Initially, MPA Safia Saeed, Deputy Commissioner Imran Ali, and Executive Director of PODA, Sameena Nazir, distributed hygiene kits to women visitors at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Later, MPA Safia Saeed and ED PODA Sameena Nazir handed over 30 hygiene kits to the in-charge of the relief camp established at the DP School premises.

PODA provided 70 hygiene kits to MPA Safia Saeed for further distribution among affected women in the district.

During a meeting at the DC Office, Advocate Imran Javed and Shabbir Hussain represented the Women Development Department Punjab. ED-PODA Sameena Nazir briefed the attendees on PODA’s gender-responsive relief efforts, emphasizing the importance of addressing the specific needs of displaced women—particularly those residing in temporary shelters or roadside tents.

Deputy Commissioner Imran Ali highlighted key flood-affected areas still in need of support and stressed the importance of coordination among stakeholders to avoid duplication of relief efforts and to ensure it where it needed most.

MPA Safia Saeed assured support by the provincial government and hoped that the situation will be improved for better when women will be able to lead their lives normally.

Women highlighted that many of them are facing difficulties due to missing or lost identity cards. They emphasized the need for dedicated efforts to help these women obtain new identity cards promptly.
